In case you weren't aware, April is National Community Service Month. Sometimes we get so caught up in everything we need to do daily that we forget to give back to our community. Indeed, sometimes it seems like we just don’t have the time. But as everyone knows, helping others helps us feel happier and better about our lives. And volunteering in your community is a great way to help others. Here are some ways that you can get involved in your community.

One of the places you can volunteer in your community is at the hospital. Hospitals are always looking for volunteers because there is always a lot to do. You could be asked to deliver flowers to patients, or help file papers. Either way, you’ll be helping somebody else.

Another place you can volunteer is at a school. You will be very valued if you volunteer at a school. You could possibly spend time reading to kids, helping with projects, and accompanying them on field trips. If you have children, you could volunteer at the school they attend.

Another great place to volunteer is a soup kitchen. Most cities and towns have soup kitchens so that homeless people can have a meal provided for free. Soup kitchens always need people to help serve soup to those individuals who are in need.

By serving in the community, you can serve others and help them to feel happy in their own lives. Volunteering is a great way to help you feel more fulfilled and feel that you are giving back.
